“El París de Ecuador”
In June I traveled to Peru for the “Festival of Inti Raymi”, Machu Picchu, and several other sacred mountains, valleys, and towns to explore the Peruvian culture. But being so close to my family’s home country of Ecuador, I could not resist adding a week and a half in Ecuador.
One of the highlights of this trip was my roadtrip to Alausí, the town where both my grandfathers grew up in, and the very town that my abuelito Victor told me on my first trip to Ecuador, I am going to introduce you to the most beautiful city in all of Ecuador. Alausí, “El París de Ecuador”. Young and naive I was expecting a very old town city with skyscrapers and little did I know just how pueblo Alausí truly is.
On my first trip, we took the “Tren del Diablo”, and properly road the roof top inches from the side of a cliff. This time around, the train has been closed due to deaths from falls. And so, from Quito, I rented a car and made the 6 hour drive south to Alausí. And when I arrived, what I saw was exactly it’s magic. The pueblo was calling me with her love.
Well enough of my jibber-jabber, these are the photos from Alausî.
